Music Review Monday

From the album Port of Miami 2, Rick Ross featuring Summer Walker

Ross, or Rozay ♥ for my ladies, has done it again. (King of Convertible/yacht music). For me it started with the phrase “Every super woman needs a superman, here I am”. But Summer Reign has quickly become one of my favorite love songs out right now. It features the talented Summer Walker, and has come in right on time for Cuffing Season. The song starts off with the following lyrics;

All I ask is that you hold it down for me
‘Cause you told me you would be my everything
If it’s love, then baby, put it on me (I got it, uh)
We could hustle this together, you and me
‘Cause I told you I could be your everything (yes)
If it’s love, then baby, put it on me, yeah, yeah

To start it sounds like a perfect date night with the top down (Y’all know I love convertible rides) of course an ideal location would be Miami with ya boo or potential new boo. It’s a Sample of SWVs 1997 release Rain, but starts off with its own tone, little more dramatic than the original. You can barely tell it’s about to fade into a sample. Music is led in by piano or keyboard chord, and Summer Walkers voice is perfect for the tone they are working to set. Together the sound has great chemistry. It presents a consistent melody it wasn’t sped up or slowed down, pretty much spot on from the original. Artistically He gets double points for the appeal that comes along with his persona and that belly of course….. My personal opinion when the lyrics not all mushy and still projects affection and the artist overall personality it makes it sexier and pretty practical. We want what we want, and I will admit I got a thing for this type of music.

Song helped me decide that I’m in love, I don’t know with who yet. But I’m in love. Just in case you reading this, It’s kind of like my favorite song out right now so if you tryna date me in any way you could win points with some roses, a romantic dinner date, convertible ride, with this song playing, you can even put it on repeat if it makes you easier for you (lol).

I just like it, as I mentioned above it’s just in time for Cuffing Season.

And Tis the season to be cuffed! I’m here for it.

Black Men don’t cheat

Music Review Monday

Baby BOY Please! Hahahahhaa this is seriously hilarious. At first I thought it was a joke, but apparently they’re supposed to be for real. Lil Duval, and “Uncle Char” (Charlemagne) has come with a message for all you ladies out there tryna still someone’s Black Man…… BLACK MEN DON’T CHEAT.

The overall production and sound quality is a good sound. The lyrics well they rhyme but sounds like a complete joke. Lol I really don’t know what more to say, other than Lol I am not convinced. Not convinced at all. The message is a good message, and I am sure for some the message that they are attempting to relay is important but this does nothing for me. Just for shits and giggles I think the 85 south show crew should do a remix.

I think the 85 south show crew should do a remix.

Rotimi – Walk with Me

New Music Review

Singer-Songwriter
Olurotimi Akinosho better known by his stage name, Rotimi, is a singer-songwriter, actor and model.

Not only is he a rising star on the big screens, He is art. The very attractive, talented Nigerian-American model actor and singer released his 4th studio album entitled Walk with Me.

The 7 song and 23 minute album is short but sweet. My intention was to only review the current radio single “Love Riddim” but after listening to the entire album……. I realized I was on the losing end. It’s like a good mix of R&B and reggae island music and man does it get his point across.

Walk With Me” is the latest project released in 2019 by actor-singer Rotimi.

Like we always say music is therapy and in most cases it tells a story. After listening to his album, he’s definitely a lover. A few of my favorites on the album is pretty much the first 3 songs, Legends, Decisions, and Love Riddim.

Love Riddim – is currently on the radio, and is a hit. Kinda like this, it’s 2006 we in a small club off some main drag or major highway in the city. It’s the end of the night and we bout 3 shots and 4 drinks in. The DJ jump on the mic to say this the last song of the night so you need to find whoever you came in there with, or whoever you leaving with cause this your last dance. Now in 2006 that song was Foxy Brown “Tonight”. However in reality its 2019 Love Riddim is one of those end of the night songs. Not too fast, not to slow but good enough to get that 2006 end of the night vibe. I can actually imagine the whole club rocking to it in unison and just because the vibe is such a strong one he got to put on 1 more song which would have to be “Tonight”. Nights out just don’t happen like that no more, but yea it’s one of those songs.

Rotimi serves up a new Afro Fusion tune titled “Love Riddim“. The Nigerian-American star and Power series actor recently signed a partnership deal with Empire distribution, after departing 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records. As a result, Rotimi drops the new joint to mark the joint-deal.

Overall I like it, its sexy, and has a strong universal appeal to it which essentially is what you should want. The more that can relate or enjoy the product, the larger the fan base. The song even has a dope visual take a look at the official video below.

How.You.Want.It? New music review

Remembering the 90’s music review.

HYWI? – Teyona Taylor featuring King Combs

A sample of the late 90’s famous Badd Boy hit “What you want” by Mase feating Total from the Harlem world Album.

Of course when the song comes on you kinda already expect it to be a hit, because sampled by the talented Teyona Taylor and King Combs the talented son of original song writer Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The pair makes a talented “Duo” and the artwork pretty much says it all before the song comes on. Both artist are explicit with their lyrics, being sure to let us know that they are not kids.

It’s a song that explains Teyana sexual expertise and she makes several references to what she will, can, and, want to do. Her biggest question is “What’s the quickest way to turn you on”? Based on what the artist is saying in the song, there will most likely be NO DULL moments with this interaction.

Now let’s talk about KING…. Pretty much a physical protégé of his Dad, look and sound just like this man. It’s like Diddy2.0, with so much musical success that’s gotta literally be some hard shoes to fill. It’s working tho. How old is this Man again, cause he said “Yea I’m young but I’m old enough, I’m stand in the pussy have you folding up”.  Christian what did you say?? Lol He’s making a grand entrance into entertainment taking a stance like a symbol. He’s a lover boy, and I’m learning to take him serious too, because the media has never displayed the playful side of him. He’s been groomed that way, but I like it….

The sample instrumental flows throughout the entire song just speeding the tempo up just a little. Teyana starts off with the same words as the original repeating “Tell me what you want” multiple times before the lyrics began. All the way down to Kings rhyming style and accent, and Teyana’s rendition of Totals tone. I’m here for it because it doesn’t divert far from the original.

Check out the video directed by Teyana, a retro video that pays tribute to very talented director Hype Williams.

The song is sexy, and we all know I’m all for something Grown and sexy that I can sing and dance too. The song shows their maturity and its a different lane compared to the music that out these days. With it being a sample you might not even mind the kids singing it………… I lied it’s not those kind of lyrics. Yea you might not even want ya teenage daughters listening to it with all this appeal King putting down. Overall I like it, I really do. I’d actually like to see a few more songs come from the two because they make a good collaboration. You can hear this song and more on the PLAYLIST dropping today entitled “Ode to the 90s”.
