Just when we thought Summer was coming to an end, Summer Walker is actually just beginning. Everything she’s said so far I’m sure you or someone you know can relate to.
At a time where it’s extremely convenient to be unintentional. Summer is asking all the necessary questions and addressing all the things that most won’t.
Ladies and gents if you not asking these questions, hats off to you and yours. However……. I need to know.
The song begins with an acoustic melody, and her voice is a perfect soft but raspy combination when necessary. The lyrics are perfectly on point, she starts by saying “Whip, bought it. Crib, got it. Job, on it.” Basically to communicate clearly that she does not have a need for those things. Then goes into expressing she never asked for the things that she’s been given. Although all appealing but material things she expresses that her desires go beneath the surface.
I dig it! It’s very necessary and extremely relevant in current times. I love the song, not only because it’s easy to relate. But it has a great melody and she has the perfect sound and pitch. Its perfect Bath time music, ahhh I love hot bubble baths ☺.
Listen here
The tempo picks up throughout the song sure to slow down so that we can clearly hear her enunciate her words when needed, Then back up dramatically throughout the Corus. It’s a very clean production! Good song to relax to, and I’d love to see her Pole work to this one!
I’m here for it, all of it and looking forward to more music from this artist. Be on the lookout for the “Forever Summer” Playlist dropping from #SpreadLoveGoodMusic.
Baby BOY Please! Hahahahhaa this is seriously hilarious. At first I thought it was a joke, but apparently they’re supposed to be for real. Lil Duval, and “Uncle Char” (Charlemagne) has come with a message for all you ladies out there tryna still someone’s Black Man…… BLACK MEN DON’T CHEAT.
The overall production and sound quality is a good sound.
The lyrics well they rhyme but sounds like a complete joke. Lol I really don’t know
what more to say, other than Lol I am not convinced. Not convinced at all. The
message is a good message, and I am sure for some the message that they are
attempting to relay is important but this does nothing for me. Just for shits
and giggles I think the 85 south show crew should do a remix.
Singer-Songwriter Olurotimi Akinosho better known by his stage name, Rotimi, is a singer-songwriter, actor and model.
Not only is he a rising star on the big screens, He is art. The very attractive, talented Nigerian-American model actor and singer released his 4th studio album entitled Walk with Me.
The 7 song and 23 minute album is short but sweet. My intention was to only review the current radio single “Love Riddim” but after listening to the entire album……. I realized I was on the losing end. It’s like a good mix of R&B and reggae island music and man does it get his point across.
“Walk With Me” is the latest project released in 2019 by actor-singer Rotimi.
Like we always say music is therapy and in most cases it
tells a story. After listening to his album, he’s definitely a lover. A few of my
favorites on the album is pretty much the first 3 songs, Legends, Decisions,
and Love Riddim.
Love Riddim – is currently on the radio, and is a hit. Kinda like this, it’s 2006 we in a small club off some main drag or major highway in the city. It’s the end of the night and we bout 3 shots and 4 drinks in. The DJ jump on the mic to say this the last song of the night so you need to find whoever you came in there with, or whoever you leaving with cause this your last dance. Now in 2006 that song was Foxy Brown “Tonight”. However in reality its 2019 Love Riddim is one of those end of the night songs. Not too fast, not to slow but good enough to get that 2006 end of the night vibe. I can actually imagine the whole club rocking to it in unison and just because the vibe is such a strong one he got to put on 1 more song which would have to be “Tonight”. Nights out just don’t happen like that no more, but yea it’s one of those songs.
Rotimi serves up a new Afro Fusion tune titled “Love Riddim“. The Nigerian-American star and Power series actor recently signed a partnership deal with Empire distribution, after departing 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records. As a result, Rotimi drops the new joint to mark the joint-deal.
Overall I like it, its sexy, and has a strong universal appeal to it which essentially is what you should want. The more that can relate or enjoy the product, the larger the fan base. The song even has a dope visual take a look at the official video below.
A sample of the late 90’s famous Badd Boy hit “What you want”
by Mase feating Total from the Harlem world Album.
Mase
Total
Of course when the song comes on you kinda already expect it
to be a hit, because sampled by the talented Teyona Taylor and King Combs the
talented son of original song writer Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The pair makes a talented “Duo” and the artwork pretty much says it all before the song comes on. Both artist are explicit with their lyrics, being sure to let us know that they are not kids.
It’s a song that explains Teyana sexual expertise and she makes several references to what she will, can, and, want to do. Her biggest question is “What’s the quickest way to turn you on”? Based on what the artist is saying in the song, there will most likely be NO DULL moments with this interaction.
Now let’s talk about KING…. Pretty much a physical protégé of
his Dad, look and sound just like this man. It’s like Diddy2.0, with so much
musical success that’s gotta literally be some hard shoes to fill. It’s working
tho. How old is this Man again, cause he said “Yea I’m young but I’m old enough,
I’m stand in the pussy have you folding up”. Christian what did you say?? Lol He’s making a
grand entrance into entertainment taking a stance like a symbol. He’s a lover
boy, and I’m learning to take him serious too, because the media has never
displayed the playful side of him. He’s been groomed that way, but I like it….
The sample instrumental flows throughout the entire song just speeding the tempo up just a little. Teyana starts off with the same words as the original repeating “Tell me what you want” multiple times before the lyrics began. All the way down to Kings rhyming style and accent, and Teyana’s rendition of Totals tone. I’m here for it because it doesn’t divert far from the original.
Check out the video directed by Teyana, a retro video that pays tribute to very talented director Hype Williams.
The song is sexy, and we all know I’m all for something Grown and sexy that I can sing and dance too. The song shows their maturity and its a different lane compared to the music that out these days. With it being a sample you might not even mind the kids singing it………… I lied it’s not those kind of lyrics. Yea you might not even want ya teenage daughters listening to it with all this appeal King putting down. Overall I like it, I really do. I’d actually like to see a few more songs come from the two because they make a good collaboration. You can hear this song and more on the PLAYLIST dropping today entitled “Ode to the 90s”. Before embracing being “Single Again”, was Triggered. It’s nothing like a good old nasty breakup. Both parties confused and don’t know what to do. Going through withdrawals and feeling every emotion possible. “I thought this was what I wanted”, “It is what I want”, or “We can just remain friends”. Then you really start to think about the time you spent, things you did, and evaluate the adjustments you gotta immediately make to ensure you don’t have any moments of despair. Moments where you’re instantly reminded of the person you’re trying to get over.
Initially you’re okay cause like Usher said “You don’t have to call”. You go gather up your girls/boys and hit the club or the kick back and get a few numbers to engage in rebound activity. Or you take the high road and remember who TF you are. You find a hobby, start working out, or engage in some extracurricular activity to distract you that is until you just can’t take it no more. Some of y’all gone probably go fuck ya ex ex and regret it. Days go by, reality sets in and then you start to resent that person. It’s even worse when you start thinking they out and about having a good time, living their best life when naturally they gotta be thinking the same thing about you, especially if it was real. Like I wasted my time and energy on this shit. I don’t even like you but I gotta share a kid with you? It was a bigger picture, but you just running a muck like you don’t even care? Man it don’t even matter, plus we most likely came to this agreement together, so our feelings should be mutual even when the reality checks in. Tit for tat, You start to remember all the bad and it trumps the good.
So why TF to I even care, cause I don’t
think he/she do. People gone think all kinda shit now. We was a power couple, us
never them, #Goals to some, last month it was “All I need in this life of sin” Now
we over, #nothing. I just wanna see them, but I don’t want them. They gone miss
me, right as soon as I stop missing them.
HOW DO I GET PAST THIS? Try music therapy and the steps below……
*DO NOT TELL ANYTHING (ESPECIALLY TO FAMILY) THAT YOU COULD REGRET SAYING ABOUT THE EX. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HOPE TO MAINTAIN ANY TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS PERSON* You could possibly get back together and it could make you look foolish.
Separate yourself – It’s going to be hard to go
from lovers to friends especially if emotions are involved. Take the time and
space to heal
Don’t try to forget, just forgive – Good and bad
will remain regardless, work towards forgiving
Practice self-care – Care for yourself the same way you once care
for your relationship
NEVER TAKE IT PERSONAL – Know that your worth is
not defined by the status or success of your relationship.
Write it out, Talk about it – Take the time to
express how you feel. To get it off your heart, you may find that talking about
it, helps gain clarity.
Don’t (TRY Not) go back, especially if it was
toxic – Maybe it didn’t work for a reason. Realize that rekindling may not be
the answer to your loneliness and it most likely won’t solve the original
problem that you had.
Find the lesson in all of it – Learn from your success and failures. It will help with bettering yourself for your next relationship. Who knows maybe yall can come together and sing about it on a track. See yesterday’s review for “Single Again”
I’ve found that its not much a little music therapy can’t fix. Make a or download a breakup playlist. Dance and sing along, eventually you’ll start to feel better.
Well Big Sean is and he has taken to music platforms to share how he plans to handle this one. As we all know he and ex Jhene’ Aiko has been a big deal in the entertainment industry and have taken a different approach to remain reputable with each other and within music media with partnering on Sean’s new single entitled “Single Again”.
When the song first begins it samples Carl Thomas’s “I wish” and he starts with the lyrics “What happens when it’s too good to throw away? You either let it go bad or go away, I need to pray”. I love it, because naturally it’s almost never the following approach. The artist begins to explore other options like let’s be friends, and spending his time and cash on himself. With a high tempo rhythm he makes you want to listen to the lyrics and consider being single during this #hotgirlsummer, not so bad after all. When the beat drops the song makes you wanna vibe and dance to it, have a drink or 2 and embrace it not for anyone else but for self.
With great points like not placing the blame, and admitting it could be him. He explores the topic of parenting issues and how things between his parents never worked out. Which are all great therapy and discussion pieces alone. It’s enough to make you think, could that cause great impact on your relationships with other people. The major key to all this is to have his ex on the chorus with him, could that mean they are on one accord. At such a pivotal time they could’ve taken this in many directions but they choose the mature and peaceful route which makes this song even more appealing. With a new look, and more mature sound, the 3:34 second song says it easy to just do what’s best when being alone and that’s to take care of you. No drugs, not more girls, or even partying can help with the healing hurt after a breakup, you gotta just take care of you. I hear a little Ty Dolla in the end too. I think the song is dope, anybody else recently Single Again? Meditate /Pray, Go get cute/fly, wash up the whip, roll all the windows down and play this as loud as you can on repeat to some kind of me time activity. Just thank Sean later ;-).
I was still pretty much still singing, “Heart Break on a full Moon” And Friday June 28th dropped Chris Browns newest album entitled. Now with the name Chris Brown I pretty much expected all that I came for.
“Indigo”
serves as the title of Chris Browns 9th studio album. This also makes the artist second double album following ‘Heartbreak on a Full Moon’ which released October 2017.
As one of the youngest artist to earn all his Masters, Brown released “Indigo” a 32 song album as a tribute to his 30th birthday. The front cover album artwork features an animated Chris Brown with purple hair surrounded by monsters and flying saucers. The album portrays somewhat of a more mature sound with a variety of music styles.
Brown opens the album with the song titled “Indigo” where he intertwines being woke with a sexual connotation. “Pussy fire it’s a vibe”, Good Vibes are a set standard these days right?
With a two hour runtime Brown shifts abruptly between tracks about sexual confidence and self-improvement. Where he is eager to share the lessons he’s learned about life and love on songs like “Back to Love”, and “All on Me”. Continual lyrics like “All these wrongs that I’ve done, I’m just tryna make it right”. The album talks a lot about energy, vibrations and love. It also features songs with live instruments that compliments the lyrics and sound for example “Red” song 6 on the album.
In tribute to this album Chris will go on tour In August
touching down in Portland first on the IndiGOAT U.S. tour. It was initially
rumored to headline Breezy and Nicki Minaj, however has now been confirmed that
Chris will appear alongside Ty Dolla Sign, Joyner Lucas and Tori Lanez. The
tour will include stops in New Orleans. B.K, and Houston before ending Oct 19. My
favorites on the Album include songs “All I want” featuring Tyga which is a
sample from DMX’s 97’ song “How it’s going down”. Red, No Guidance feat Drake, just
to name a few but many more.
When you hear r&b, what comes to mind? For me it triggers memories, thoughts of love, breakups, dancing, images from old school music videos, convertible popped rides, soothing words and bubble baths, long kisses in front of the projects (lol think 90’s videos, No I know I’m not from the projects). I mean I could literally go on and on. It’s not just R&B honestly all types of music will trigger some kind of emotion and most likely a memory.
Let’s talk about modern day dating. For me it’s normally hit or miss. No literally, listen if he fine fine, he got some shit with him run sis. When he’s undeniably a sweetheart he tries to smother you (Major peeve let me be) I said run. The one you kinda into, offer’s no consistency and or other important traits but seems to expect it damn he got you, I told yo ass to run. I’m speaking from the experience over the last year or so, not dating all these personalities at once. Although if I was, I wouldn’t be wrong another conversation for another day.
But what ever happened to R&B love or (love song chivalry)? Where the man actually pursues you and shows his interest or how much he really like you? The kind where he’s been watching you but was nervous to attempt to pursue you because he was just that into you. It’s like there were no upfront questions to be asked, because he had studied you before he even approached you. He wanted to make sure he was really attracted to you and your mannerisms before he even took that step with you. Then he brainstormed and thought about how to best approach you. They were so optimistic in getting a girl, she was his even before she was his. That’s important in any dynamic of wanting something just for you. Loyd even prayed Player prayers, and included God in the pursuit of his woman. These days they question god. Instead of asking, then looking to find it in that Woman. When Jay Z made a Song Cry, we saw the type of man (personality wise) didn’t even matter. Even the hard core dope boys showed they could relate and played those songs high with all the windows down LOUD. They loved us hard, so hard they was ready to defend and be loyal to somebody they just met and just simply wanted to get to know. Then comes r&b rap where LL Cool J and Boyz II Men rang out to admirer’s all over singing Hey Lover. (that’s low key a fave) However old school love songs was made for everyone to listen and relate to. #BRINGITBACK It made commitment, trust, loyalty, chivalry, and being solid look practical and fun. I won’t go too far and say be faithful but Jagged Edge had men singing Let’s Get Married and dancing to the alter. UGK even had his boys and the barber right behind him looking like a lynch mob, singing International players anthem (I choose you Baby). Then you know its real cause even his partners know how he feel. DISCLAIMER THIS IN NO WAY APPLIES TO ALL MEN.
I know some of you are still out there but I bet the ladies will agree that it’s slim, I mean real slim. Some of them gone say to none but I believe better. On all the old school love stories, and hardcore drama movies you definitely gone hear a good r&b song spewing in the background. Color Me Badd was tryna sex somebody up in New Jack City. Try me, just go see. I mean they convinced you to give them a chance with a simple song, and sometimes a well thought out gift to compliment the gesture. Pride was never an option, that man fell to his knees and got his ass right back up to try again if necessary, sometimes with the same girl. Even the break up songs ended up with the love interest falling in love with someone else. Someone better than he/she had before. Carl Thomas had me somewhat confused with I wish, but he got it together cause shortly after he was out dancing in Summer Rain. Listeners immediately considered trying it again with someone else (F that). These days it’s like, I’ll never do that shit again (*side eye*lol). I say all this to say, ladies if you’re like me… Single, and mingling, looking to eventually stumble into your life partner. Let’s try a new approach and don’t entertain unless their tryna Love you like R&B. Hopefully I’ve restored some faith in a few of you. Now go on, Go listen to some jodeci, or better yet head over to Apple music and check out the latest #SpreadLoveGoodMusic playlist entitled “Music is my love language”.
